Repairs bulky/helix-distorting lesions (UV pyrimidine dimers, chemical adducts). XPC or CSB recognises, TFIIH unwinds, XPF/XPG excise ~25-30 nt oligo, Pol δ/ε fills. Loss → xeroderma pigmentosum.
